Tips and tricks
Quivr
Quivr is a widely used app among KU Leuven students. The app provides quick access to information on schedule, events and the menu of Alma (the student restaurants). It's also useful to connect with your friends on Quivr to see their timetables. You can also check how busy the libraries are in the app.
Opening hours shops
Most shops in Belgium are open from the morning until 18:00h with the exception of supermarkets. On Sundays most shops and supermarkets are closed because Sunday is seen as a rest day for most people.
Veto
Veto is the student-newspaper at KU Leuven. Its content is made for and by independent student-editors. Even though Veto is run by dutch-speaking students, the paper publishes English versions of its most relevant articles especially for international students.
The Voice
The Voice serves as the international magazine for KU Leuven students, covering not just life in Leuven but also producing articles on relevant topics that resonate with our life as students. The Voice strives to connect, inform, and enrich the university experience for the KU Leuven community.
Free fries at Alma
Did you know you can get free extra servings of fries at the Alma after you order a meal there? You just have to go back to the counter where you received your food and ask nicely for extra fries. Also, the mayonaise at the Alma is free.
Open air markets
There are several markets happening weekly in Leuven where you can find artisinal and local products at good prices. There is for example the flower market on Thursday and the big Friday market. It's a nice time to take a stroll and find some products you might not normally find in the shops.
